...STRONG AND GUSTY WINDS WITH SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW WILL
BEGIN LATE THIS AFTERNOON...

A STRONG COLD FRONT MOVING EASTWARD ACROSS THE ALASKA INTERIOR
WILL GENERATE STRONG AND GUSTY WINDS...ALONG WITH SNOW AND BLOWING
SNOW. WINDS GUSTING TO AS HIGH AS 40 TO 45 MPH ARE EXPECTED
AT VALLEY LEVELS. WINDS OF 30 TO 50 MPH ARE EXPECTED ON
THE HIGHER SUMMITS ON THE STEESE HIGHWAY. WINDS GUSTING TO
40 MPH ARE EXPECTED OVER SUMMITS ON THE ELLIOTT AND TEMPERATURES
WILL FALL SHARPLY TONIGHT AFTER THE FRONTAL PASSAGE. BLIZZARD
CONDITIONS MAY OCCUR OVER HIGHER SUMMITS ON THE DALTON...STEESE...AND
ELLIOTT HIGHWAYS. BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW WILL LIKELY MAKE
THESE ROADS IMPASSABLE OVER THE HIGHER SUMMITS. TRAVEL OVER THESE
HIGHWAYS SHOULD BE POSTPONED UNTIL THE WINDS SUBSIDE AND THE SNOW
ENDS.

PEOPLE SHOULD POSTPONE ANY TRAVEL INTO THE BACK COUNTRY
UNTIL THE WINDS SUBSIDE. IN THE FAIRBANKS AREA...STRONG
WIND GUSTS COULD DOWN TREES AND CAUSE POWER OUTAGES.
