THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN FAIRBANKS HAS ISSUED A

* FLOOD ADVISORY FOR...
  FOR THE SAG RIVER FROM PUMP STATION 3 TO NEAR DEADHORSE...

* UNTIL 315 PM AKDT SUNDAY

* AT 315 PM AKDT THE SAG RIVER NEAR PUMP STATION 3 HAS EXCEEDED 
  ACTION STAGE AND IS APPROACHING MINOR FLOOD STAGE OF 20.0 FEET. 
  RAINFALL EXCEEDING AN INCH FELL IN THE UPPER BASIN OF THE SAG 
  RIVER THURSDAY NIGHT INTO FRIDAY MORNING. WATER LEVELS HAVE RISEN 
  FASTER THAN EXPECTED... LIKELY A RESULT OF SATURATED SOIL 
  CONDITIONS FROM THE RECENT SNOWMELT. 

* WATER LEVELS ON THE UPPER SAG RIVER COULD EXCEED MINOR FLOOD 
  LEVELS BY EARLY FRIDAY EVENING BEFORE CRESTING LATE FRIDAY NIGHT. 
  THIS WATER WILL TRAVEL DOWNSTREAM AND REACH THE AREA OF THE DALTON 
  HIGHWAY THAT WAS SEVERELY DAMAGED BY THE RECENT SNOWMELT FLOODING 
  BY SATURDAY AFTERNOON. WITH RECENT FLOODING AND DAMAGE TO THE 
  HIGHWAY... IMPACTS COULD BE MORE SEVERE THAN NORMAL FOR THIS TYPE 
  OF EVENT. 

* DAMAGED AREAS OF THE ROADWAY COULD BE IMPACTED AND EQUIPMENT BEING 
  USED TO REPAIR THE HIGHWAY SHOULD BE MOVED TO HIGHER GROUND TO 
  AVOID POTENTIAL DAMAGE AS THE WATER LEVELS RISE. LEVELS ON THE SAG 
  RIVER NEAR DEADHORSE ARE EXPECTED TO FALL BACK TO NORMAL LEVELS BY 
  SUNDAY MORNING. FOR THE LATEST ROAD CONDITIONS PLEASE CHECK THE 
  ALASKA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION WEBSITE:

STATION 3 ON THE SAG RIVER. A FLOOD ADVISORY FOR THE SAG RIVER NOW
REPLACES THE SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT.
