AFTER A RECORD WET JUNE...JULY'S PRECIPITATION AT THE JUNEAU
INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT CAME IN AT SECOND PLACE IN 72 YEARS OF
CLIMATOLOGICAL RECORDS. THE TOTAL WAS 8.26 INCHES OF RAINFALL...NARROWLY
BEATING THE THIRD PLACE FROM 2008 OF 8.25 INCHES BUT FALLING WELL SHORT
OF THE WETTEST JULY ON RECORD FROM 1997 WITH 10.36 INCHES. NORMAL
PRECIPITATION FOR JULY IS 4.60 INCHES...WHICH MADE THIS YEAR'S JULY
TOTAL 180 PERCENT THE NORMAL RAINFALL. RAINFALL WAS CONSISTENT OVER THE
MONTH...WITH ONLY ONE DAY EXCEEDING 1 INCH ON THE 11TH. ONLY FIVE
PRECIPITATION FREE DAYS WERE RECORDED AT THE AIRPORT IN JULY OF 2014. 

WHILE PRECIPITATION WAS MUCH HIGHER THAN NORMAL...TEMPERATURES WERE
TYPICAL OF JULY...A MERE 0.5 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. THE AVERAGE
TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH WAS 57.4 DEGREES. THE AVERAGE HIGH TEMPERATURE
WAS 63.3 DEGREES WHILE THE AVERAGE LOW TEMPERATURE FOR JULY 2014 WAS
51.5 DEGREES. THE WARMEST DAY OCCURRED ON THE 6TH WHEN JUNEAU AIRPORT
RECORDED 72 WHILE THE COOLEST DAY OCCURRED ON THE 31ST WITH 45 DEGREES.
THERE WAS ONLY ONE DAILY TEMPERATURE RECORD FOR THE MONTH:  55 DEGREES
FOR A RECORD WARM MINIMUM TEMPERATURE ON THE 23RD. 

A CONSISTENT PATTERN OF SYSTEMS PUSHING THROUGH THE PANHANDLE
PERIODICALLY RAISED WIND SPEEDS. PEAK WIND GUSTS AT THE AIRPORT WERE
RECORDED ON THE 12TH AT 32 MPH FROM THE SOUTHEAST AND ON THE 22ND AT 
30 MPH FROM THE EAST. WINDS WERE PREDOMINATELY EAST OR SOUTHEAST WITH
OCCASIONAL SHORT PERIODS OF WEST WINDS. THE WINDIEST DAY AT THE JUNEAU
FEDERAL BUILDING WAS ON THE 22ND AS WELL WITH A GUST OF 30 MPH.
