...Important Message from the Anchorage Fire Department...

The Anchorage Fire Department (AFD) has issued a HIGH FIRE DANGER
ALERT! for the Municipality of Anchorage (MOA) due to increasingly
dangerous fire conditions. The National Weather Service is
forecasting very warm and dry weather for Southcentral Alaska for
the next three days. These conditions may be worsened by dry, gusty
northwesterly winds this afternoon and evening in some areas and
very warm temperatures. For current weather updates, including
watches and warnings please visit

The Anchorage Fire Department is asking for your increased vigilance
as this weather will increase the fire behavior of any wildfire
start. Fire danger is currently characterized as VERY HIGH throughout
the Anchorage, Eagle River and Chugiak areas. Remember, all burning
has been suspended within the MOA until further notice. Call 267-5020
for updates in Anchorage. PLEASE USE EXTREME CAUTION until conditions
moderate. Report all fires immediately by calling 9-1-1.

Message to private pilots and drone operators: PLEASE REMAIN CLEAR
OF FIRE OPERATIONS AREAS! Remember, we can't fight the fire as
long as you are in the area. Remain at least 5 miles (radius) and
5000 feet (altitude) from all wildfires.
